Leasehold law is regularly described as an outdated and archaic form of property ownership. Nonetheless there are some 4 million leasehold properties within England and Wales, with more being created each day in the form of apartment buildings of leasehold flats.

The system is a complex combination of laws, customs and practice interpreted through decisions of the Courts and Property Tribunals. No two leases are the same, even within the same block of flats. We must now understand and plan for changes contained within the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024, and how this will affect flat owners in 2025 and beyond.

You are likely to be visiting this page because there is an issue with a property you live in or are looking to sell. We hope that you find what you are looking for or that you get in touch if there is a topic of interest that we may be able to write about.
